  • Gut, Microbiota, and Thyroid
    for Practitioners

    Description

    • Sponsored by Invivo Clinical & Primal Docs •

This event has has been recognised by the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) as meeting the requirements for Continuous Professional Development (5 CPD Hours).

Thanks to the recent explosion in microbiota research, we are learning that the gut has an immense impact on every system of the body. Understanding the causes of gut dysfunction and microbiotal imbalance is crucial for optimum patient outcomes. After healing the gut, many conditions improve, including hypothyroid, arthritis, pain, fatigue, weight gain, insomnia and IBS.

But with the explosion in research also comes a misapplication of the findings in clinical practice. Which studies are relevant for patient care, which need further exploration, and which are simply not useful in creating an effective treatment model?

Keeping up with the research, reviewing the studies, and determining how (or if) their findings apply to your clinical practice could be a full-time job all by itself. Fortunately, Dr. Michael Ruscio spends hours a day doing just that, so you don’t have to.

In this special one-day event, Dr. Ruscio will bring his experience with the latest scientific research and the results his patients achieve in his clinic to share this cutting edge information with medical doctors, functional medicine practitioners, registered dieticians, and patients interested in participating in their own care. He will be highlighting preliminary findings from his practice, where two clinical trials in digestive care are currently underway, and distilling his findings into practical advice you can apply with to improve your patients’ results immediately.

Dr. Ruscio will present his recommendations on these two topics:

    Gut

    • The three most common causes of GI dysfunction, and their roots
    • Ordering the right tests and making the right diagnosis while still being cost effective
    • Cutting-edge treatment options straight from the research
    • Putting it all together – a clinical algorithm for successful treatment

    Thyroid

    • The three types of thyroid problems see in patients, and how to differentiate between them
    • When and how to treat each type of thyroid issue
    • The role of iodine in thyroid treatment—a definitive guide based on incontrovertible science

I am a Registered Dietitian with a private practice. I practice by ancestral and functional nutrition principles, so this lecture was extremely beneficial for me. I picked up quite a few clinical pearls from the talk. I especially appreciated seeing specific protocols and studies, so that I could compare notes with a highly experienced practitioner. Thanks for the great event!
